Bulk soybean meal, a high-protein feed ingredient widely used in livestock rations. Soybean Meal is the world’s most important protein feed. Global soybean harvests have reached record highs (~427 million tonnes in 2025/26), driving soybean meal production to the high-300s MMT. Nearly 80% of global soybean production goes into livestock and poultry feeds, because soybean meal delivers ~47% protein (dehulled “HiPro” grade) and an excellent amino acid profile. In fact, soybean meal accounts for roughly two-thirds of all plant protein used in animal feed worldwide. Indonesia’s feed sector exemplifies this trend: soybean meal imports jumped to about 6.2 MMT in 2024/25 (a ~20% YoY rise) as poultry and aquaculture demand surged.
